Technology and tradition are about to meet in a whole new way. For the upcoming Outlaw Ranch Cowgirl & Cowboy Challenge, I’ll be bringing along a new piece of equipment that I’m excited to put to the test — AI-powered PTZ cameras.
For those not familiar, PTZ stands for pan, tilt, zoom. These cameras can move smoothly across the arena, following the action without needing a cameraman behind the lens. What makes this especially powerful is the addition of AI tracking, which means the camera can recognize and follow riders as they compete. From the first burst out of the gate to the final turn in the arena, the AI will be working to keep every moment in frame.
Why does this matter? Events like the Cowgirl & Cowboy Challenge are full of fast-paced, unpredictable movement. Horses and riders move quickly, often changing direction in an instant. Having AI tracking built into the camera means more consistent coverage, smoother shots, and less chance of missing those key moments.
This is also part of a bigger goal — to bring professional-quality streaming to local events right here in our community. Whether it’s snowmobile hillclimbs, motocross, football, or rodeo, the same idea applies: let the technology do the heavy lifting so families, friends, and fans can focus on enjoying the event.
I’m excited to see how the AI performs at Outlaw Ranch and to share this experience with all of you. This is just one more step toward making local live streaming more dynamic, reliable, and engaging.
Stay tuned — we’ll have highlights, stories, and plenty of footage from the Cowgirl & Cowboy Challenge coming soon.
